Make Way for Nancy

A New Book by Nancy Schön

Nancy's new book, the story of her life in public art, is to be published by David R. Godine on October 5th, 2017. The book will be for sale at local bookshops, Amazon, and here on Nancy's site.

Nancy tells the complex stories of how public art comes to be; the many steps in the artistic process as well as the the often more complex community and public process.

"I came upon children gathered around a sculpture of a woman holding a cat. They patted the cat and hugged it just as though it were real, and their parents smiled, never saying 'Don't!' Right then, I saw what I wanted for my art. I wanted my sculptures to be outdoors in parks, wherfe people of all ages could touch and enjoy them." Nancy Schön

"There are a dozen statues in the Boston Public Garden... George Washington is the biggest, but the best loved is the one by sculptor Nancy Schön of the feathered family from Robert McCloskey's Children's book, Make Way for Ducklings." - Robert Campbell, Boston Globe Magazine
